Reward Grows in the Search for Tyler Jefferson's Killer

GCCS will pay up to $3,000 - Private Reward Reaches $15,576.00

Gulf Coast Crime Stoppers pays rewards of up to $3,000 to tipsters who can provide information helpful in solving homicide investigations.

 Standing rules:

1.       A “tipster” who contacts Crime Stoppers and gives information anonymously which leads to an arrest and filing of information against an offender will be eligible for a Crime Stoppers reward.

2.       If two (2) or more persons furnish information about the same crime the reward monies will be shared with the other tipster(s) that contacted Crime Stoppers.

3.       The final authority will be at direction of the civilian Board Of Directors.

4.      The tipster MUST provide information regarding a crime by the following  means:  by telephone at 433-7867 or 1-877-433-8477, via the internet at www.gulfcoastcrimestoppers.org, or by texting GCCS to CRIMES (374637).  If a tipster fails to provide a tip in the specified manner then the tipster is NOT eligible for a reward through Gulf Coast Crime Stoppers.

When a tipster contacts Crime Stoppers a system is in place for that person to receive a code number. Each tipster is given a different code number so Crime Stoppers can differentiate one tipster from another.  The code numbers are kept in chronological order in which the call was received.

In certain cases, private citizens or organizations may put up their own reward monies to encourage the public to come forward.  Oftentimes, the individual or organization(s) will ask for Crime Stoppers' assistance to publicize the availability of these funds.  These rewards are separate from the reward established by Gulf Coast Crime Stoppers and do not require that the person receiving the reward remain anonymous; however, in order to claim BOTH rewards, you MUST remain anonymous up until you have received your reward from Gulf Coast Crime Stoppers.  Once you have received your reward from GCCS it is up to you whether or not you choose to reveal your identity.

There are other public reward monies available to person(s) that has information regarding the Tyler Jefferson Homicide that occurred on November 12th 2009.  These funds are from private sources and are NOT related to Gulf Coast Crime Stoppers.  These private funds are for the arrest and conviction of the perpetrator(s) involved.  The guidelines and issuance of the private funds will be determined by the providers, NOT Gulf Coast Crime Stoppers.  For more information contact Jeff Van Camp at 436-9387.

Report Crime and Earn Cash by calling 433-STOP

If you know of a crime that has occurred in Escambia County, call Crime Stoppers at 433-7867.  You will NEVER be asked to give your name and if the information which you provide leads to a felony arrest or capture of a Deadbeat Parent, you will get a cash reward!  Crime Stoppers is 100% anonymous, you will never be asked to appear in court.

Here's how Crime Stoppers works:  Tipsters report wanted fugitives, felony crimes, or deadbeat parents anonymously by calling 433-STOP (7867).  The tipster is then given a tip number with instructions to follow up at a later time.  The tip is then forwarded to the appropriate investigative division, unit or agency.  Since Crime Stoppers cannot trace or take a tipster's name or number, the tipster must follow up as instructed.  The tipster must retain his or her tip number in order to follow up on a tip or claim a reward.  Once a tip number has been issued it cannot be given out a second time!  If an arrest is made based on the information which the tipster provided, the tipster will receive a cash reward.  The reward amount is determined by a Civilian Board of Directors, which meets on a monthly basis.  The tipster will then be given a date when they can call back to claim their reward and at which time they will be provided with a second code number and instructions on where and how to pick up their reward.  You never have to produce your name or identification, not even to claim your reward.  Your reward will be paid in cash as long as you are able to provide your original tip number along with your second code number.  That's all there is to it!
